From the HILARIOUS picture of some guy in a suit riding a bull in a China shop on the wall, to the neon Molson Export sign, it's hard to judge what this place is all about.  But this gem of the East End of Hamilton surely has what it takes for a good brunch.

Brunch places are hard to rate, because there is a 10% chance that it SUCKS WET ASS, a 10% chance that it's FUCKTASTICLY AMAZOTRONIC, and an 80% chance that it's just right.  Rankins is just right.  No sloppy eggs, no fatty bacon, no OJ that tastes like dish water, and no servers with attitude.  The prices are great, and the decor is fantastic.

No like I said about the judgement percentiles, I generally rate that top AWESOME 10% based on their eggs Benedict, I mean c'mon.  Anyone can make a nom-nom-nomelette.  For bennie, Rankins is CLOSE.  The hollandaise sauce is tasty, but just a touch too buttery for my liking.  This puts them in the top quarter of that 80%, just not quite squeaky enough for that 90% plus.

Oh well.  They serve beer in the morning too, and you can watch the steel working night-shifters getting slophered up at 10am while you deal with your own hangover.

Walked in the front door. Looked like a decent place. Was pretty busy. Seated ourselves as no one greeted us. Sat at a high table by the bar as the dining area wasn't open. Bar was pretty loud. Noticed most were likely regulars.  A lady came over took out drink orders. Then took our dinner orders , then ignored us for the rest of the night.  We assume she was maybe the head bartender.  Someone could of told us something. As now we don't know who to ask "for anything".
My glass was empty. We had questions. ... nothing.  Other girls started helping us.  Place got noisier & noisier. Wouldn't of minded being in the dinner area. Especially once the band started. We couldn't even talk to each other. Unless we yelled.
Food was just ok.  The chicken quesadilla has veggies in it that were still crunchy. !? & loaded with tons of jalapeños !  My oven roasted turkey sandwich had a super thin slice of turkey in it.  But lots of lettuce, tomato & mayo.
Never quite had one like that before.
It never stated any of that in the menu.
I told her "not toasted" and it was toasted .
Not even a tablespoon of cole slaw or a carrot or 2 or anything was with it !  Just one odd little $8 sandwich. Maybe if we we part of the 80% men regulars we'd get better treatment ?
    Likely won't return.

These guys know how to treat their customers. There's this blind guy who comes in all the time - and they even treat his DOG like a king!
